Town of Luang Prabang Laos (Lao People's Democratic Republic), 2005

A wondeful, quiet old French colonial town which has been able to ressurect itself from decades of war and be transformed into a center of worship, art and commerce.

With over 30 temples in the city, Luang Prabang is one of the Buddhist spiritual centers of southeast Asia. With international help (much of it from the French), the old colonial houses are being restored to their former glory.

Sitting along the lazy, muddy Mekong river there are few things more enjoyable than having a cold glass of wine in the shade, eating some of the fantastic local cuisine and watching the world go by.
